Kids Fitness And Fun At Next Generation Clubs

Children’s health and fitness is an important aspect of Next Generation Clubs’ overall approach to family fitness and well-being. We believe that incorporating fitness as part of the daily family routine can help children to learn from an early age to include exercise as part of their everyday activity and this will be significant in establishing healthy habits to last a lifetime.

Our NG Prodigy programme provides children with a range of exercise and fitness options starting from five years of age through a range of fun studio based exercise classes. Once children reach ten, they move into a separate range of classes and are able to participate in the supervised use of weight bearing machines for children.

Hoist Circuit Gym Equipment*

Our gyms feature a children’s circuit of Hoist resistance weight training machines specifically designed for children aged 10 - 14 years of age.

Each supervised circuit session uses the Hoist equipment with a group of up to eight children. Each 30 minute session consists of a five minute warm up and an average of two sets of 15 repetitions on the equipment, followed by a five minute cool down and stretch. The equipment consists of:

  • Crunch machine
  • Back/hip extension
  • Mid-row
  • Seated dip
  • Seated leg press
  • Bench press
  • Chin up
  • Squat press
  • Shoulder press

Children are encouraged to participate within the circuit once or twice a week if used in conjunction with other physical activity. Two or three times a week is recommend for rehabilitation or strength development.

Children’s use of the equipment is only allowed during the supervised sessions.

Fun Fitness Classes

We have designed a range of classes designed for children of different ages to build fitness in a supervised fun environment. Here’s a selection of some of the classes available:

Classes For 5 – 9 Year Olds

NG Prodigy Fitness Circuit – 30 minutes of cardio, strength and flexibility

NG Prodigy Games Play – a fun filled 30 minutes of cardio based games

NG Prodigy Yoga – a fun session of Yoga, stretch and play with traditional poses and sequences

Classes For 10 – 14 Year Olds

NG Prodigy Ball – develops co-ordination and teaches the importance of body balance through games and techniques.

NG Prodigy Cycle – introduces children to the basics of cycling and teaches discipline through a non-impact exercise.

NG Prodigy Dance – teaches the latest funk moves in a fun and interactive environment, great for cardio, confidence and flexibility.
